In the context of a unique Canada wide collaboration including David Jenkins from Toronto, Peter Jones from Winnipeg and Jiri Frolich from Vancouver, Dr Lamarche and his team have demonstrated the long term impacts of the portfolio diet on CVD risk factors (JAMA 2011). His work has demonstrated that large amounts of trans fatty acids from natural and industrial sources have the same effects on CVD risk factors (AJCN 2008, Mol Nutr Food Res 2011, AJCN 2012). It was the first controlled study on the matter. In conclusion, his laboratory has published numerous studies on the Mediterranean diet, its use in the north-american context and its impact on health (Atheroscler 2003, Br J Nutr 2004, 2010, 2011, Nutrition J 2004, J Nutr 2005, Curr Nutr Food Sc 2006, Health Educ Res 2007, Eur J Clin Nutr 2007, J Nutr 2008, NMCD 2010).
