The new Leadership Chair in Cheese Technology Education took off at STELA-INAF this fall. The creation of this chair is the initiative of Professor Yves Pouliot and the result of close collaboration with the Conseil des industriels laitiers du Québec (CILQ), the Quebec Cheese Expertise Center (CEFQ), the Université Laval Faculté des sciences de l'agriculture et de l'alimentation (FSAA), Agropur, Lactalis Canada, Novalait, Saputo and the MAPAQ. It aims to improve the specialized training in cheese making by proposing new contents, innovative teaching methods, a spring school and a research program aimed at increasing the competitiveness of the Quebec cheese sector. Mr. Julien Chamberland, Ph.D. trained at STELA-INAF, has been appointed to the Chair and holds a professorship in the Food Science Department of the FSAA. He is currently working on an offering of new programs and advanced courses in cheese technology, some of which could be offered as early as the fall of 2021.
